Oplegnathus punctatus is commonly known as spotted knifejaw. Its sharp teeth can break the hard shells of shellfish or sea urchins. It has been known as a dreamlike fish, top-notch sashimi and the king of rock fishing. The most suitable temperature is 22℃ to 26℃ and the concentration of salt is 8% to 33%. It can be cultured in ponds, cages and factories. The annual increase of weight can reach 100g per fish. As for cage culture, spotted knifejaw can clean periphyton including shellfish which is attached to cages. It can be cultured with groupers and other fish.
